On Tuesday, March 8, 2016, I decided to introduce my 8-year-old niece, Kaydence, to the stock market. We discussed her favorite brands, and I purchased $150 in shares of Nike, Disney, and Apple for her first personal stock portfolio. We then took a walk to visit each of their flagship locations on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. As I explained to Kaydence that she now OWNS that store, her mind filled with questions like “Do I get free stuff now, Uncle Ren?” and “Do I get money when people buy Nike shoes?” – I was inspired by the impact this could have on more kids like Kaydence, and that is how ONE STOCK ONE FUTURE was born.
